Retorna el Discovery a Florida

El próximo vuelo del Discovery está programado para el segundo trimestre de 2010.
El desvío le costó a la NASA casi dos millones de dólares.
En California, existe una pista de aterrizaje auxiliar en caso de urgencias.
Un tiempo tormentoso le impidió al Discovery regresar a su base hace una semana y media.
El viaje de retorno a Florida incluyó un vuelo desde Edwards al Aeropuerto Internacional Rick Husband en Amarillo, Texas; otro a la Estación Aérea Naval de Fort Worth, también en Texas, y uno más hasta la Base Barksdale de la Fuerza Aérea en Shreveport, Luisiana.
El 11 de septiembre el transbordador retornó a la Tierra pero, debido a las condiciones meteorológicas en el sur de Florida, su aterrizaje se efectuó en la Base Edwards de la Fuerza Aérea en California.
El Discovery cubrió en esa travesía más de 9.1 millones de kilómetros.
La misión del transbordador en la Estación Espacial Internacional duró 13 días, 20 horas, 53 minutos y 45 segundos.
La NASA informó que el 747 que portó al Discovery, aterrizó en el Centro Kennedy, después de un viaje de 4.025 kilómetros en dos días.
El transbordador Discovery, montado sobre un avión Boeing 747, completó su retorno al Centro Espacial Kennedy en el sur de Florida.
