Varios niños filipinos se alejan de varias cruces colocadas durante los preparativos del Viernes Santo en la localidad de San Pedro Cutud, en San Fernando, provincia de Pampanga, norte de Manila (Filipinas).
Penitentes filipinos se autoflagelan mientras recorren las calles de la localidad.
Cientos de manifestantes participaron en una protesta contra el aumento del precio de los combustibles, lo relacionaron con la semana santa.
Estudiantes filipinos disfrazados recrean la crucifixión de Cristo mientras marchan hacia el palacio presidencial Malacanang en Manila, Filipina.
Penitentes se flagelan a sí mismos alrededor de las iglesias de Ciudad de San Fernando, en Pampanga, en el norte de Filipinas, para revivir los sufrimientos de Jesucristo y para enmendar sus pecados.

Una docena de feligreses se han clavado en la cruz para recrear la crucifixión de Jesús.
Los nazarenos gritan de dolor y algunos se desploman incapaces de resistir en pie la furia de golpes que reciben en las piernas y la espalda en apenas diez segundos.
El 80 por cien de los 94 millones de habitantes se declara católico en Filipinas, el único país de Asia donde esta religión es mayoritaria.
Transcurridos unos minutos de oración y desaparecido el resuello, los penitentes salen de la iglesia y continúan con la procesión, que para aquellos de mayor resistencia se prolongará durante cuatro o cinco horas.
En el siglo XVIII se tuvo que hacer una ley para que los nativos no abusaran de este autocastigo.
Las famosas crucifixiones en las Filipinas se remontan a las autoflagelaciones, las cuales fueron traídas por misioneros españoles en el siglo XVI.
Las personas presentes, pueden corroborar la realidad de lo que están viendo, sin trampas ni engaños. Podrás ver en vivo y en directo la crudeza de un acontecimiento tan impactante.
Los penitentes y el resto de los integrantes de esta procesión se paran cada vez que se avista un santuario católico y es aquí donde los golpes arrecian por todos los lados.
Para algunos es un sacrificio religioso, para otros una crueldad; lo cierto es que se respetan las creencias de las personas y se da la libertad de que actúen de la manera que ellos consideren más adecuada.
Los ritos paganos de la Semana Santa filipina, que movilizan a millones de fieles, comenzaron hoy con un rosario de golpes a veinte penitentes mayores y menores, que emularon así el calvario sufrido por Jesucristo.
